What inspires me?
I let my emotions and feelings control the subject I am creating, as well as dictate the colors and style of my art. For example, since the color is a huge inspiration to me if I am walking or driving somewhere and I see a beautiful sunset with peaches and lilac purples I am inspired to create a piece with those colors that make me feel calm and relaxed like that sunset did. If I want to create a piece around an important and serious subject I will create a color scheme or darker tone in the piece to convey how heavy it weighs in people's hearts; like for my concentration this year, I used children's stories to inspire my pieces about being younger and the challenges that younger people today deal with. My Concentration: My concentration focuses on growth. I dive into the many issues people face growing up in different stages of their life. I take childlike perspectives as an inspiration and twist them to the truth of the dark realities many people face going through adolescents to show the reality and hardships of the world. I include the struggles of negative body image, broken relationships, pollution, and a loss of innocence in my pieces, I also dive into the struggles of adulthood and how people continue to grow and mature as they continue to experience different things and make mistakes and learn from them. Technique: My technique as an artist is more graphic and colorful. I like to use colors in my pieces to create a certain tone and emotion in the person that's looking at it and to convey my message more clearly. I usually make things up in my imagination for my pieces, but I also sometimes look at photographs of objects or people to try and make my proportions more correct and realistic. I like to mix colors and be creative with textures and overlapping things in my pieces. |
